Ant is not only about XML, there's also javascript. And actually any other language which is a "Scripting Languages JSR-223-Aware", like groovy, jython, beanshell, jelly, jruby, scheme, etc...

Very interesting implementation of a paralell executor for Ant. It got further than the experimental one in Ant's sandbox (http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/ant/sandbox/parallelexecutor/), as it highlights a difference between the expressed dependencies in the build.xml and the actually used ones in Ant runtime. There's probably some place for improvement in Ant core.
