Walking the streets of Rio with the XF35 F2 & XT-1 | Caveira Photography

Walking the streets of Rio with the XF35 F2 & XT-1 | Caveira Photography | Fujifilm X Series APS C sensor camera | Scoop.it

Well, it's been 48 hours since I arrived back in Australia from my 5th visit in ~10 years to Brazil and I've got 100gb+ of images to work through from my 2 weeks in the country. It was my first time visiting Brazil with decent photography skills and of course, my first time with my FujiFilm kit. Leading up to this trip was a bit different than previous times, in the sense that recent media chatter about the country being 'terribly unsafe' and rampant with Zika had, for the first time, left me questioning my safety during the visit. Had Brazil suddenly changed? Did its beautiful, rich culture and warm-hearted populace change in a matter of 3 years since my previous visit? Thankfully, no. Brazil is still as I remember it from my 4 prior visits, and its sociable and outgoing way of life is still very much intact, with people who frequently go out of their way to say 'hello' and 'good day'. Like every country though, Brazil certainly has its issues, but I'm not going to get into that here.....

May is right around the corner. I'm shocked that in two or three weeks I'll have been working exclusively with the Fuji XT-1. I still look at that camera and new. I've shot the living crap out of i

XT-1: Bigger Than A Bread Basket

XT-1: Bigger Than A Bread Basket | Fujifilm X Series APS C sensor camera | Scoop.it
Well... not really bigger than a breadbasket. While it's on my mind I thought I would mention something about the Fuji XT-1's size. I was too lazy to make another picture so I'll use one I took a long time...

Fuji vs Nashville…… | Bill Fortney

Fuji vs Nashville…… | Bill Fortney | Fujifilm X Series APS C sensor camera | Scoop.it

’ve been in Nashville, Tennessee all week with our Third Annual Nashville/Ricky Skaggs Americana Workshop.  Country Music/Bluegrass Legend (14 rimes Grammy Winner!) Ricky Skaggs is also an accomplished photographer and good friend and he and I, plus Jim Begley and John “Snake” Barrett, and Nick Coury, run this annual workshop during Nashville’s Bluegrass Month.  While we have been shooting the many fantastic locations around Nashville, I’ve been giving the X-System lenses a workout and thought I might share some of the images from this weeks shoot! Tonight the entire group will go to Ricky and Kentucky Thunders concert at the Historic Ryman Theatre, images from that tomorrow! At Marathon Motorworks we always shoot the decorative tool door at the Motor works offices. Fuji X-T1 with the 16-55......

Another wedding photography post today. Again I was asked by a very dear friend of mine (Also being the best colleague in the world) to take photos at her wedding. I was also invited as guest, so I had double roles to fill! Again the images was taken using the x-pro1 with the 35mm f/1.4, the X-T1 with the 56mm f/1.2 and the trusty x100s. I wish Thomas and Gitte all the happiness in the world.......

Taking the X-T1 into the deep blue | Ben Cherry

Taking the X-T1 into the deep blue | Ben Cherry | Fujifilm X Series APS C sensor camera | Scoop.it

Just to make it clear, I am not an underwater photographer. I have dabbled in it from time to time in locations of incredible marine life, such as snorkelling around coral reefs. The North Sea has a high abundance of marine life and the coast of Penzance is one of two places that you can consistently see blue sharks (the other is Cape Town). So when Danny Copeland, a fellow University of Sheffield Zoology graduate, spoke about his plan to go and see them with Charles Hood, a local charter skipper (http://charleshood.com), I jumped at the chance to join him. Previously I have used DSLRs for underwater photography in a Ewa-Marine underwater housing. This time though I wanted to continue to push the X-T1 in difficult conditions so I put it in the same housing with the 10-24mm. Despite being dwarfed by the bag, the set up worked really well.......

I waited for this flight for a year but it was absolutely worth the wait! The air balloon flights in London are restricted to weather, early mornings, wind directions and speed.

Since the dawn of digital I've been seeking a place I could call home in some things I really liked about the gear and the process I already had with film. I thought to myself, any day now, any day,...

Freezing summer | Robert-Paul Jansen

Freezing summer | Robert-Paul Jansen | Fujifilm X Series APS C sensor camera | Scoop.it

Last summer we went to the coast of Zeeland, the region situated in the southwest of our country, near Belgium. Zeeland has always been my second home. Since I was born I basically went there every weekend with my parents until I was older and went on holidays abroad. Last few years my wife and I returned a few times because we (us and the kids) really enjoy this place. I really love the fresh wind coming from the ocean and the rhythmic sounds the waves produce.

X-StreeT1: My Fujifilm X-T1 Review / Jonas Rask

X-StreeT1: My Fujifilm X-T1 Review / Jonas Rask | Fujifilm X Series APS C sensor camera | Scoop.it

This will be somewhat different from my usual “reviews”. Well, they aren’t really reviews per se. Much more like me praising the hell out of glorious lenses and cameras. (I’m overly positive, I know!) So, on May 27th, I caved, and bought the X-T1. I had shown some latency, since I really disliked the way the camera looked as compared to my X-Pro1. Looks???? you ask. “Why on earth is that important, Jonas?” Well for starters, it probably doesn’t matter to a lot of people, but to me it does. How a camera feels to me, makes me relate to it, and actually makes my pictures look better! Dunno why. It just does. I like aestetics. I like design. I like order. I like simple. I like my X-Pro1… ALOT! Why did the X-T1 need more dials? Why did it need a EVF hump? Why did it need that big FUJIFILM logo screaming on the front? Why did it need a tilt screen? ....

Fuji X-T1 vs Fuji X-E1 / JWC

Fuji X-T1 vs Fuji X-E1 / JWC | Fujifilm X Series APS C sensor camera | Scoop.it

I have wrote many times on this blog how I’m not going to upgrade to a new camera. I am anti G.A.S. But I recently ran into a deal where a X-T1 was $400 off. I could not pass that up so I decided to get it. When you shoot a lot, you know when you need to upgrade. I was getting to that point with my X-E1. I was shooting about 5000 photos a month. The X-E1 felt sluggish. I knew I had to upgrade, but the prices felt too high for me. I remember upgrading from an X100 to an X100s. That was a mistake. It was not a huge upgrade so I felt like I wasted my money. Then how is the X-T1 compared to a X-E1? It’s a huge difference. It seems like a worthy upgrade to me. I could not believe how fast it was. Everything felt lighting quick. When I first turned on my X-T1, my mouth dropped when I experienced how fast the AF was. Then I realized I didn’t even have High Performance mode on. I didn’t even get the latest lens firmware to take advantage of the Phase Detection pixels! Once I did that, the AF became even faster......

Review | 20 Countries with Fujifilm X-Series Cameras | Elia Locardi

Review | 20 Countries with Fujifilm X-Series Cameras | Elia Locardi | Fujifilm X Series APS C sensor camera | Scoop.it

Since May of 2013, I’ve had the pleasure of working with the Fujifilm X-Series Cameras and XF lenses, and during that time I’ve managed to shoot with them in more than 20 different countries, spanning nearly every possible photography condition. In the process, I’ve also had the pleasure of meeting many Fujifilm shooters from around the world and what I’ve discovered is that people love their Fujifilm cameras and, like me, they’re excited to talk about them. There have been quite a few times, where I was completely immersed in a sea of tripods, riddled with shooters toting every type of camera brand known to man. People with Canons, Nikons, Pentax, and Hasselblads, all sizing each other’s gear up—in typical photographer fashion—while never exchanging a word. Fujifilm shooters on the other hand, just seem to smile at each other, as if they have a shared secret that no one else knows. It’s the strangest thing, but even during photo walks, Fujifilm shooters seem to congregate; proud to be carrying their cameras and excited to talk about their favorite lenses and what is to come. There’s a sense of community and shared love for these cameras that I find absolutely delightful.......
